Your well-being is our priority as we work together to document these important experiences and drive positive change.

Mental Health Support: A Cornerstone of Our Mission

  • Heroes Wellness Collective

While sharing your story is crucial for documenting history, your mental health and well-being are paramount. That's why Operation Recovery has integrated support from our sister initiative, the Heroes Wellness Collective (HWC), to ensure you have access to comprehensive mental health support before, during, and after participating in the Impacts of War project.

Through this platform, you can engage in 24/7 peer support forums, connect with mental health professionals for one-on-one counseling, participate in stress management and coping skills workshops, and join virtual support groups specifically for veterans. These resources are designed to provide comprehensive support throughout your journey of sharing your experiences.

  • VA Mental Health Services

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs offers various mental health services to support veterans. These include specialized PTSD treatment, substance use disorder programs, and general mental health care. Services are available both in-person and through telehealth options. Visit the link below to learn more about available services and how to access them.

  • 22ZERO

22ZERO is a nonprofit organization dedicated to healing veterans, first responders, and Gold Star Families using non-invasive, peer-to-peer holistic interventions. They offer free, confidential services through the Trauma Resiliency Protocol (TRP) and Emotions Management Process (EMP) to address and manage trauma without requiring clients to disclose specific details of their experiences. Their mission aims to reduce suicide and trauma impacts while promoting overall emotional resilience. 22ZERO is also a foundational member of the Heroes Wellness Collective (HWC).

  • USCRI Behavioral Health Support

The Behavioral Health Support Program for Afghans by the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants provides trauma-informed behavioral health services tailored to Afghan cultural and linguistic needs. Services include a 24/7 national crisis hotline, telehealth services, and community behavioral health teams in key states. The program addresses mental health challenges related to stress, acculturation, trauma, loss, and grief for resettled Afghan individuals.

At Impacts of War, we recognize the profound emotional toll that revisiting traumatic experiences can take on our veterans and allies. As we document sacrifices and atrocities related to the Afghan collapse, we are committed to supporting the mental health and well-being of those who bravely share their stories.
